Dmitri and I spend a lot of time together. Five years, three moves, and two little girls have turned us into a pretty good team, if I do say so myself, and there’s no one I’d rather share my life with. But there are definitely some activities that I love– like shopping and dessert-eating, for example–that he’d rather opt out of. And sometimes? Well, it’s just nice to hang out with a girlfriend.

An always impeccably dressed girlfriend who’ll assure you that it’s just fine to buy the impractical black heels with the little rosettes on top simply because they’re cute, for instance.

Or a really shoe-savvy girlfriend who’ll encourage you to find the best deal on said black heels, even if that means circling the entire mall several times with an animated toddler in tow.

And especially a kind, thoughtful, and always-organized girlfriend who’ll pack homemade baked goods–in all their buttery/crumbly/preservey/walnutty glory–into her beautiful purse just in case the toddler (or her mother) happens to get hungry during this hypothetical marathon shopping trip.

Yep, sometimes it’s just nice to hang out with a girlfriend.  And these INCREDIBLE oat bars (http://www.foodnetwork.com/recipes/giada-de-laurentiis/apricot-oat-bars-recipe/index.html), made with strawberry preserves and dried strawberries? They’re just a lovely bonus.

(Thanks, Wendi! Can’t even begin to tell you how much we appreciate your friendship—and your stellar baking/shopping/jogging skills :)).
